We post blocks, not people
People ask for the other version of this, the one with a face on it. We do not build that. Not because it would not spread, but because it spreads best when it is wrong, and a stranger with a phone cannot establish that the person in a photo is the person who left it there. A block and a date, we can stand behind every time.
What goes on a sign
The 100 block
Addresses round down before they touch a sign. "1200 block of N Serrano Ave", never a house number, because a stretch of sidewalk is the thing a neighborhood can fix and a front door is not.
The date it happened
Reports older than 60 days do not go up. A sign about something from last spring is litter.
Your photo of the mess
The evidence, with anything identifying painted out in your browser before it ever uploads. We keep the original private and never republish it.
What never does
Names or faces
Anonymous strangers submitting photos of identified people is how the wrong person ends up on a pole. There is no version of this where we are sure enough, and the cost of being wrong lands on somebody who did nothing.
House numbers, doors, plates, or gates
All of them point at a household. A sign that points at a household is not awareness, it is an invitation for someone else to act on it.
Who filed it
Reporters stay anonymous. We do not ask for a name or an email, and there is nowhere to store one. Your report page is reached by a link only you hold.
Anything we cannot check
No accusations, no history, no "this is the guy from the blue house". If it is not a photo of a mess at a place on a date, it does not go up.
Posting your sign
- Once a report clears, we post the sign around the scene and on our Instagram. You can download yours the moment you file and post it yourself.
- Put it on your own property, or ask the owner first.
- Never on a door, a car, a mailbox, or a tree.
- Take it down after two weeks. It has done its work by then.
- If somebody asks you to take one down, take it down. Arguing on a sidewalk is not what this is for.
Taking something down
If a sign of ours shows something it should not, or shows your property in a way you do not want up, email hello@reportpoop.com with the block and we take it down the same day. No argument, no form. That promise is worth more to this project than any single post.
